Lola’s Land can be completely customised by users, who can spend the points they’ve earned by playing games and entering competitions. The site will use safe social networking features to allow users to interact with one another.

Through the book series - published by HarperCollins Children’s Books - and www.lolasland.com, girls follow the adventures of Lola Love and her fabulous friends, Sadie, Bella and Angel otherwise known as The Pink Ladies as they negotiate the world of being a girl.

The characters are real girls with diverse backgrounds, working out real solutions to real-to-life challenges. They are fun and well rounded, but they’re not perfect. Our readers follow their adventures as they navigate their way though life making decisions, making mistakes, building confidence and self-esteem at their own pace, and having lots of fun in the process.

The Lolasland.com website, books and articles, as well as branded offerings, all encourage girls to ‘be happy, being you,’ provide positive and aspirational role models and convey health-affirming messages.

Some parts of the website are for members only. Once registered users are able to participate in certain site activities not available to non-members:

Members can:

• Play specially designed Lola-branded games to earn points to spend in an interactive world
• Build a custom avatar to represent themselves
• Show their daily mood and tell their friends how they’re feeling
• Add friends. Members can make friends with other Lola’s Land users to view their avatars, top tens, quizzes and activities on the site

Once members have made friends on the site they are able to communicate with one another using a unique messaging feature. Safety

Lolasland.com is committed to a safe and positive experience for all users, so we have implemented the following safeguards:

• During the registration process, the parent’s e-mail address must be provided so we can send a notice informing you that your daughter has joined the site. If you prefer she not join Lolasland.com, please use the link in the email sent to block your daughter from using the members-only features.
• The Lolasland.com experience is intended to be anonymous. Girls are not allowed to share or exchange personal information with anyone else online. We never ask anyone to provide personal, identifying information apart from their date of birth which is used for monitoring purposes only and not publicly visible and a parent’s e-mail address, which is used only to request permission. We do not share email addresses.
• When someone registers, she creates a screen name, which is the only way she’s identified to other users at Lolasland.com. She’s instructed not to include her real name in her screen name — or any numbers from her address or phone number.
• She also creates a password for sign-in, and we advise her never to share her password with anyone except her parents. For extra security, a member may change her password at any time. We clearly state that no one from Lolasland.com will EVER ask for her password. The only exception being logging into the members only areas of the site.
• We require every member to read and agree to our Rules outlining safety measures and proper behaviour at Lolasland.com. If a member of Lolasland.com does not follow these Rules, her account is deleted, and she won’t have access to the site.
• If someone ever makes her feel uncomfortable, or doesn’t like what she sees, she can let us know by clicking ‘Don’t like what you see on this page? Let us know…’ When a user is reported, we can review the incident, monitor the offending user, and determine whether further action is required. Any users attempting objectionable behaviour can be banned from the site.
• Profanity is not permitted anywhere on the site.
